Major Festivals

Ultra Music Festival

The biggest electronic music festival in the world’s biggest electronic music city.

  • When: Late March (typically the last weekend)
  • Where: Bayfront Park, Downtown Miami
  • Duration: 3 days (Friday-Sunday)
  • Tickets: $400-$500 GA, $1,500-$2,500 VIP
  • Attendance: 55,000+ per day
  • Genre: EDM, house, techno, trance, bass music

Ultra has been the flagship Miami music event since 1999. The main stage production is staggering. The RESISTANCE stage (techno/house) has its own devoted following and often features more interesting music than the main stage.

Survival tips:

  • Wear earplugs (hearing damage is cumulative)
  • Hydrate aggressively; March heat plus dancing equals dehydration
  • The Carl Cox RESISTANCE stage is worth the entire ticket price
  • Comfortable shoes; you will walk 15,000+ steps per day
  • Everything is cashless via wristband

Rolling Loud Miami

The largest hip-hop festival in the world.

  • When: Usually July
  • Where: Hard Rock Stadium area, Miami Gardens
  • Duration: 3 days
  • Tickets: $350-$450 GA, $800-$1,500 VIP
  • Attendance: 75,000+ per day
  • Genre: Hip-hop, rap, R&B, trap

Past headliners include Kendrick Lamar, Travis Scott, and Future. July heat is extreme; hydration is non-negotiable. The crowd skews young (18-25). Getting in and out is the biggest pain point; rideshare surges to $60-$100 post-festival.

III Points

Miami’s homegrown indie-electronic festival.

  • When: October or November
  • Where: Mana Wynwood
  • Duration: 2-3 days
  • Tickets: $150-$250 GA, $350-$500 VIP
  • Attendance: 15,000-20,000 per day
  • Genre: Indie rock, electronic, experimental, hip-hop

III Points is the festival that locals actually look forward to. Smaller, cooler, and more curated than Ultra or Rolling Loud. Past headliners include Radiohead, Aphex Twin, and LCD Soundsystem. The Wynwood setting adds a neighborhood-party feel.

When Alex moved to Miami from Portland in 2024, he attended Ultra his first March and III Points in October. “Ultra was impressive but I felt like I was watching a concert on a TV screen from 200 feet away,” he says. “III Points felt like the festival was made for me. I saw Aphex Twin at midnight in a warehouse in Wynwood. I have gone to III Points every year since and skipped Ultra.”

Miami Music Week (MMW)

The unofficial EDM conference surrounding Ultra.

  • When: Same week as Ultra (late March)
  • Where: Various venues across Miami Beach and Downtown
  • Duration: 7 days
  • Tickets: Varies by event ($0-$100 per event)

MMW is not a single festival but a week of club events, pool parties, label showcases, and afterparties surrounding Ultra. Over 300 events across the city. Many of the best sets happen at club events, not at Ultra itself.

Key events during MMW:

  • Space (Wynwood): Marathon DJ sets, 24-hour events
  • Club Space terrace: Legendary sunrise sets
  • Pool parties: Fontainebleau, Delano, 1 Hotel
  • Free events: Many bar and rooftop events have no cover
